The fondant is strong with this one

This has absolutely nothing to do with my tour, the show, dinosaurs or puppets. It has everything to do with me, geekdom, cake and awesomeness!!

Besides dinosaurs and puppets, nothing makes me geek out more than foodie culture and fantasy/sci-fi movies...well...those and books about wizards and vampires, but that's besides the point.

Two of my favorite blogs decided to team up and create a contest for the ultimate geekiest cake idea. Great White Snark regularly features a geeky cake of the week, and Cake Wrecks not only showcases when professional cakes go horribly, hilariously wrong, but every Sunday is dedicated to when they go deliciously right.

Together, Great White Snark and Cake Wrecks along with cake designer Melissa Capyk of Wild Cakes would be judging write in entries and selecting the geekiest of the geeky and of course the idea that would best translate into a kick-arse cake! The winner will have their cake (but sadly not eat it too), the original sketch design, photo of the cake and a special t-shirt based on their idea...not to mention the bragging rights of being featured on these astounding sites!

According to Mike from GWS, there were hundreds of entries, but as Highlander states, "There can be only one". And that one is....ME!!! I am so thrilled and can't wait to see what Melissa creates.

I guess at this point, you are all wondering what my idea was....

I love this contest!
You would know someone was an ultimate geek if they celebrated their wedding with a geeky cake ~ and what if that wedding had a Trekkie getting married to a Star Wars geek ~ a true Romeo and Juliet story of today.
Picture this: A Federation officer and Princess Leia-esque, bride/groom cake toppers, who struggled to get to top tier through their family and friends who have been at war for geekdom superiority for decades ~ as seen on each of the lower tiers.
or
A wedding cake that has each tier adorned with a different geeky theme: Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Dungeons and Dragons….But what’s this?!?! - the Princess Leia from the design in the Star Wars tier seems to have pulled herself out of the frosting and has climbed to the top of the cake - you can see it by her footprints in the other tiers and follow them right up to the top…and who is that she’s standing with? Is that Captain Kirk? It is! you can see the depression in the Star Trek tier from where he once was and follow his tracks up to the top as well!
These cakes show us that true love and true geek-ery can conquer all ~ even interests in opposing geeky genres.
May the force prosper with them for a long time!
